Impressions 2007 - Inspiration

*This post is my impression for the year 2007

New Year’s is perhaps my favorite holiday. It spans traditions and cultures and is an opportunity for reflection and renewal. For me, it is a way to celebrate the past and welcome the future.

This past year has heightened my understanding of the collective unconscious the significance of which is that we as individuals are part of a larger whole. We are who we are based on the events that preceded our birth, as well as the struggles and joys of our experiences. We make each other better and will persist in those who follow.

I continue to seek inspiration from those around me. From friends, colleagues, family, and strangers… from people of all backgrounds and ages.

Earlier this year I came across an amazing video that I feel embodies the sentiment of the collective unconscious. The music for the video was inspired by a magical folk song Baegu Lullaby from Northern Malaita (Solomon Islands north of Australia). The video itself, prepared by Matt Harding, captures the spirit of the larger whole.

My wish for all of us in the year ahead is to enjoy the extraordinary spirit of those around us who inspire us.
